Community Sessions
A compassionate and judgment-free healing space for rest-curious community members to learn, practice, and support each other in our rest journeys
This space is open to all, but centers BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) in my sociopolitical analysis.

Rituals for Unrest invites you to honor and process sacred unrest in community. We will offer our tears, longings, love, grief, and care to the unrest we feel within and without. Rather than reject the personal and political unrest that abounds, we will revere it with the humble acknowledgement that we have much to learn about how to move through crisis and change. Through song, movement, art-making, and partner + group sharing, you will practice giving expression to the many faces of unrest: grief, rage, despair, bitterness, hatred, disgust, etc.
Unrest might not be the teacher we want, but it is the teacher we have and need. By becoming intimate with the many faces of unrest and expressing it through our bodies, we’ll be better equipped, informed, and prepared for working with the energies of unrest all around us.
This session is well suited for people who feel disillusioned and doubtful that our usual ways of thinking, moving, relating, or being are adequate for the times. Please note that this is not healing for the sake of feeling good at expense of reality (though some form of relief is likely). This is healing for the sake of making things right within the cosmic order, starting with ourselves.
“When one is pretending the entire body revolts.” — Anaïs Nin
“If paradise now arises in hell, it's because in the suspension of the usual order and the failure of most systems, we are free to live and act another way.” ― Rebecca Solnit
“What goes wrong in the visible world is only the tip of the iceberg. So to correct a dysfunctional state of affairs effectively, one must first locate its hidden area, its symbolic dimension, work with it first and then assist in the restoration of the physical (visible) extension of it.” – Malidoma Patrice Somé

What To Expect
Who is this for: This practice is accessible to anyone who can sit or lie down with headphones. It has been intentionally designed to provide relief for anxiety, depression, stress, overwhelm, insomnia, and/or exhaustion.
How to prepare: Change into loose-fitting clothing. Grab your blankets, pillows, and sweaters. Close the door, window, and blinds. Set up your space in a way that brings pleasure, joy, and comfort.
Headphones are recommended, but not necessary.
Overview: We'll begin with a 20-30 min activity that inspires reflection on the theme and brings newfound awareness to our relationship to rest.
Then, we’ll transition into a juicy 30-40 min guided practice featuring a combination of nervous system regulating exercises, gentle breathwork, visualization, and/or yoga nidra meditation.
Everything offered in this space is optional. Please know you’re always welcomed to do what feels good to you.
Collective Rest is committed to creating accessible spaces where tired and trauma-impacted human beings can rest and heal, together.
Our community sessions are free to acknowledge how systemic oppression — racism, capitalism, colonialism, patriarchy, and ableism — inequitably distributes the conditions and resources to feel safe enough to take rest.
